
Why Your Bathroom Heater Needs to Be “Explosion-Proof”
Let’s be honest: putting high-voltage heating elements in a room full of steam and splashing water is a bit nerve-wracking. If you use a cheap, standard lamp, you’re asking for trouble. That’s why we build our units to IP44 standards. It’s basically a fancy way of saying we keep the electricity dry while the quartz tube does the heavy lifting.
The secret is in the glass
At the heart of the lamp is the quartz. But not just any quartz—we use a fused grade that can handle “thermal shock.” Think about it. You’ve got a scorching hot surface, and then a stray drop of cold water hits it. Normal glass would just snap. Our tubes are built to take that hit without breaking. When we call them “explosion-proof,” we really mean they can handle the pressure and the odd bump without shattering into a million pieces. We also use high-temp adhesives and reinforced caps to seal everything tight. Why? Because if even a tiny bit of moisture sneaks into the filament chamber while it’s white-hot…**pop.**Those seals make sure that never happens.
Dealing with the heat (and the water)
The IP44 rating means the fixture blocks out dust and handles water splashes from any direction. To make that work, we use gaskets that don’t melt or degrade, even when they’re hitting 200°C. But here’s the trade-off. To keep the water out, we have to limit how much air flows around the electrical housing. Because of that, the outer shell can get pretty hot to the touch. Just make sure your mounting brackets leave enough breathing room so you don’t accidentally scorch your walls.
Getting it set up
We designed these to be simple drop-in replacements for your old bathroom heaters. Just wire it into a grounded circuit and you’re good to go. The best part?
