Why “Explosion-Proof” Quartz Actually Matters
Here is the thing about heat: it’s violent. Imagine a quartz tube glowing at 600°C. Now imagine a single, cold drop of water hitting it. With regular glass, that tube would contract instantly and crack. It doesn’t just break; it bursts. We use a specific kind of quartz that doesn’t freak out when the temperature swings. It handles the shock. This keeps the glass intact and ensures those live electrical filaments stay exactly where they belong—inside the tube and away from the water.
Dealing with the Seals
When we talk about an IP65 rating, we’re talking about keeping dust and water jets out. We use high-temperature silicone gaskets to plug the gaps where the wires go in. It stops moisture from sneaking into the terminal block. But there’s a catch. Because the housing is sealed so tight to keep the water out, the heat has nowhere to go. It can get pretty toasted around the sockets. We use materials that won’t warp or melt under that pressure, but you still need to make sure your bathroom has decent ventilation. You don’t want the outer chassis getting too hot to touch.
A Couple of Tips for Setup
