If you’re working with Low-E glass and your sheets are wider than 3 meters, you’ve probably noticed a frustrating problem: cold spots. Standard, off-the-shelf heating lamps just can’t keep up. You end up with uneven heat, which is the last thing you want when you’re trying to maintain a perfect finish. That’s where we come in. The struggle with 3+ meter setups Here’s the thing: you can’t just slap a bunch of extra lamps onto a frame and call it a day. It doesn’t work like that. When you scale up, you have to worry about the electrical load. If you aren’t careful, you’ll get voltage drops at the end of the line, and suddenly your heat density is all over the place. We spend a lot of time dialing in the wattage and voltage so the heat stays consistent from one end to the other. Then there’s the physical side of things. Long quartz tubes have a tendency to sag. It sounds like a small detail, but if the lamp isn’t parallel to the glass, your results suffer. We use precision support brackets to keep everything locked in place and perfectly straight. Tuning the heat Depending on your specific annealing curve, we’ll use either short-wave or medium-wave emitters. For Low-E coatings, it’s all about the wavelength. You want the heat to penetrate the surface without scorching the edges. And because we know these machines run 24/7, we don’t cut corners on the wiring. We use heavy-duty connectors that can take the heat without burning out. The “real world” side of installation One thing people often forget is that these wide-format units put out a massive amount of heat. A lot. If your tunnel’s exhaust system isn’t up to the task, that hot air has nowhere to go. It just sits there.
